Venice, Italy is a world-renowned city built on more than 100 small islands in a lagoon of the Adriatic Sea. It’s famous for its winding canals, elaborate architecture, rich art heritage, and unique romantic atmosphere. As we were arriving by train from Rome, with luggage coming off the Celebrity Equinox, we stayed at a hotel on the Grand Canal directly opposite the railway station at Santa Lucia. It made it very convenient.  However, I do have to mention that there are 438 bridges in Venice, so be prepared if you have heavy luggage. There are porters that will help you across the bridges, but they come at a price which is always negotiable.
